Baker Karklins & Associates can’t say this enough times…the CRA will NOT contact you by email.
If you get an email telling you to claim your income tax refund by clicking on a link…DO NOT DO IT (sorry to shout, but this is really important). It is a scam that can do anything from stealing your personal info to infecting your computer with a virus. We have received those emails ourselves, and they look very official and convenient. Much like the emails from a Nigerian Prince promising you millions of dollars, it’s just too good to be true.
If the Canadian Revenue Agency wants to contact you, they will do so by regular mail. If you DO get a letter from the CRA and are not sure how to respond, contact us. We’ll be happy to help.
